Northern Machine proudly presents "Ghost Surgery", five new tracks of uneasy ambience featuring flashes of an emerging interest in melody.
Ten years in the making, interrupted by the assembling and release of an album of live performances spanning half a decade, travesties, travails, and major movements ensured a long, wrenching birth (and not a damned epidural in sight). Perhaps because of all that, most of the pieces call to mind the deliberative exploration of unfamiliar territories.
"Once you've experienced the psychedelic state, you never ever really forget it," Bill Warford was quoted in a recent interview. "What do I mean by that? The mind is incapable of absolutely erasing such profundity from the memory. Whether you enjoyed it, or you didn't is not the relevant point. What I'm positing is, there were good parts of that gifted experience that will for the rest of your life inform everything you do and how you react. So I say that all the music I create is psychedelic music, even though it often veers sharply from the commonly accepted expectations of that genre."
